March 11th, 2010Alice in Wonderland Blog
March 8th, 2010Ms. T is offering another chance to participate in a blog. For our One Book; One School program, all of Ecker Hill read the classic Lewis Carroll version of Alice in Wonderland. On March 5th Disney’s Tim Burton version of the story opened in theaters nationwide. For this blog I would like you to reflect on both versions of the story and compare & contrast them with each other.
Again, this time your participation is optional and any responses left will be for extra credit in Q3 English class. You are to follow the same format we did in Q1 on our Outsiders Blog. Please use a pen name and your school email address while participating in the blog. All responses need to be posted by March 26 to count as Q3 extra credit.
Write a 5-8 sentence response and post it under comments. You may include the following information: What are your overall impressions of the original “Alice” story? What elements of the original story did Tim Burton keep in the film? Why do you think he kept those elements? What did he leave out that surprised you? How is Tim Burton’s version similar to the version we read during advisory? How was it different? Did reading the original Lewis Carroll story help you understand the newest film version? Explain. Why do you think this story has endured over time? Lastly, how can you connect these two versions of the same story with IB and the Areas of Interaction? Feel free to comment on other students’ responses as well. :-)
