Hello and welcome to the 2009-10 school year! We, the members of the 7Blue Team, are excited to begin the year, meet the students and their parents, and jump start the new year by providing you with important information.
Review this information but please remember that individual teachers will be handing out and reviewing their own class disclosures on the first day of school.
Student Agendas: 7th graders will be expected to bring their agenda to every class. Agendas are their hall pass, are critical for student success, and are a useful home/school communication tool.
Team Expectations: 7B students will be expected to follow the EHIMS rules:
- Be Ready
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
We all make choices: those student who choose not to live by these road rules will be held to the “3 strikes You’re Out” policy.
Late Work Policy: Students need to be accountable for turning in their work on time. Assignments turned in on the day they are due are worth full credit, individual circumstances merit individual discretion.
Advisory: At EHIMS, each student in the school will start the day with a 15 minute Advisory period. Students get time to read, work on homework, or participate in activities that foster school spirit and relationships between peers. Students on 7 Blue will attend Advisories taught by 7Blue teachers. Advisory schedule will look something like the following, although schedules may change due to assemblies or other events occurring in the school:
Monday: Drop Everything and Read (DEAR)
Tuesday: Homework
Wednesday: Team Activity
Thursday: Play!
Friday: FISH!
Parent/Teacher Communication: Teachers can be reached through their individual e-mail addresses (see below). The weekly calendar is posted here. Links to all teacher web pages are also below. Teachers update their grades in Power School every 2-3 weeks and parents can also access their student’s grades here.
Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences: Conference dates are listed in your agenda. EHIMS holds student-led cross-curricular portfolio conferences in both the Fall and Spring. More information will be sent home as we get closer to conference time.
